WORSHIP TEAM MEMBER COVENANT
Northridge Worship Vision Statement:
Our vision is to have a Worship Team that leads vibrant, expressive, excellent worship within our church’s worship environments; to build up worship leaders that lead worship from the platform, that lead worship from the congregation, and that lead worship for those around them in their everyday lives. We are to have a culture that emphasizes care, community, and engagement.
Our Hope is that Worship Leaders:
- Play/Sing Skillfully and excellently
- Serve with humble hearts
- Worship on and off the stage
- Work as a team
- Be inviting, welcoming and inclusive
- Train and equip others to serve NCC
What We Strive for as Worship Leaders: Ephesians 4:1-13
4 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it says:
“When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.” 9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
NCC Commitment to Unity and Lifestyle Agreement:
The basic requirement for any serving position at Northridge is that you refrain from doing anything in that position that would disrupt unity in the church or conflict with our mission, values, or beliefs. (Including but not limited to: Promoting political opinions, drawing attention to sexual orientation, or handing out any content not endorsed by Northridge).
Furthermore, Worship Team members—due to the unique leadership we have within the church—must refrain from sexual immorality, which we believe is any sexual activity outside of a Biblical marital relationship. We must commit ourselves as “living sacrifices,” which is our “true and proper worship.” (Rom. 12:1)
As a Worship Leader, you are Expected to:
Serve – Come prepared, be punctual, and point to Jesus in your worship when you are scheduled by the Worship Pastor and are conflict-free. Our priority is always to show the world Jesus and proclaim the Kingdom of God—this should be your priority in your service.
Participate – Join the Body of Christ in worship as often as you can, even when you are not scheduled to lead, and be an active participant of NCC and its programs. Being deeply rooted in your church is a key aspect of serving, no matter what ministry you’re a part of.
Encourage – Speak life to your fellow team members and champion them to others in the church. There is no room for gossip or derogatory words.
Equip – Always be open and willing to give help when there is a need for it. The Worship Team is never to be exclusive or unapproachable.
Grow – Always be growing in your relationship with Christ and be looking for ways to stretch yourself spiritually, musically and relationally.
Communicate – If you are ever tired, drained, or burned-out, please speak with the Worship Pastor of your Coach to work out a plan that is best for you spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
If you have a problem or conflict with any part of the Team or Team Leadership, that should always be addressed with the individual in a Christ-like manner. If a resolution cannot happen, Leadership should be informed to speak with all parties involved.
If you ever need or want pastoral counseling, please reach out to the Worship Pastor. Team health and unity are necessary for our true and pure worship to be given to God.
Attend One, Serve One
NCC encourages all people serving to “Attend one, serve one” (serve at one service on a given Sunday, and participate in the other). This is something that cannot be done for a scheduled Worship Team member. Instead, all Team Members are strongly encouraged to participate in worship regularly, even when they are not scheduled, and to participate in at least one of the services when they are scheduled, when they can. There are circumstances that can make it very difficult to attend every Sunday that you are not scheduled, such as work, and should not be a reason to preclude you from serving on the worship team, but you are still responsible for participating and growing at NCC. Things like Small Groups or other structured events are also strongly encouraged. Any questions about not being able to regularly participate should be directed to the Worship Pastor.
WORSHIP TEAM DRESS CODE
I’ve read and understand the Stage Dress Policy for NCC and agree to abide by it when scheduled for the Worship Team. Failing to abide by the policy when scheduled will result in the issue being fixed before services, or you will not be able to go on stage that week.
Accepting and continuing with your role as a Worship Leader is your choice. I hope you know how loved and valued you are and how excited this team is to see you grow! If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Thank you for accepting God’s call and using your talents and abilities to serve His Kingdom!
